Thanks, the property we were looking at was a little to pricey, but thanks for the info. Any other suggestions around the Portland area to buy a piece of property.Just an acre or so. It could be up to an hour away.

house and property, or just house? Roundbouts how much are you looking at spending on it? Do you prefer farmland or forest? Theres much to offer around here. We have quite a range and Im sure you'll find what youre looking for. Look in the Oregonian (or Oregonlive.com) under real-estate, theres a good selection there, or try maybe [url] and put in different cities. Its just one of the many real estate companies around, and should give you an average idea of what is out where and how much its gonna run you.
Good luck!!

Just property, wooded preferably and don't want to spend more then 75,000.00 for it. We still have to build the house. It could also be in the Vancouver area.

You might have better luck in the Vancouver area, or further south, like Salem area. It's unbelievable what a piece of dirt will cost you here. We bought our house in the small town of Yamhill 3 years ago. What we really wanted was something out of town - we have always lived in the country till now - but large lots and small acreages are like gold here. Even lots in town can run you over 100k now. We feel fortunate to have found a house on a fairly large lot (1/4 acre), but that was 3 years ago and our property has appreciated almost $70k in that 3 years. We are considering cashing out in a year or two and moving to Tennessee. We should have enough equity by then to get a decent house on 5 acres. Good luck to you!

Hey Robin, what about McMinnville? I went through a few years ago (my dad lives in F.G. still) and the old town looked real nice, but a lot of urban sprawl heading out of town towards the coast. i havent heard much about how the town actually is anymore or prices. Any idea?

We live in Florida and want out. We have family in Beaverton, but don't want to be right next to them. We plan to put the house on the market after the first of the year. Don't expect much, but you never know.We will move there and live in the 5th wheel untill we find something. My husband has a job in Portland, right by the river and the 205. He only works 3 days a week so the commute could be up to an hour away. Does that help at all with suggestions? Also do you know of any nice RV parks in the area.
