Default Relocating from Nevada to Oregon

My husband wants to move to Oregon and be close to the Ocean. He is tired of the hot dry weather here. I just got my teaching certificate and am starting my first year teaching. Right now I only have a bachelors degree and I'm worried about finding a teaching position. Currently we live about 70 miles outside of Las Vegas in Logandale. It is a nice small town and I'm thankful to have been hired at the elementary school which is right across the street from my house. There are just over 700 students at this school. We do not want to live in the city and do not mind driving somewhere to do our shopping. I don't want to have to commute 70 miles or more for work. I prefer to be where it doesn't snow. We have five children who range from ages 16 to 2. Housing has gone through the roof here and while we can sell our house for $280,000 you cannot touch the size of home we are looking for, for under $400,000. Currently we have a 3 bdr. home that is approximately 1150 sq. ft. With five children we need a lot more room. My husband works as a head custodian for the same school that I just got hired at. We both enjoy staying home. He loves playing on the computer so would probably be happy anywhere. Any suggestions would be great.

The main place where it doesn't snow in Oregon is at the coast. You could go to a small city inland from the coast like Coquille. There are some small towns around Grants Pass too. They get a little snow but not a lot.

Salem is absolutely booming. They're looking at hiring several hunded school teachers the next couple of years. The city has 150,000 people, nearing 400,000 in the metro area. I don't know what you consider a big city. There's also smaller communities outside Salem where you could live like Dallas, Silverton, Monmouth, Stayton. For $280,000 you could buy a very nice new home or an older home. In my area I see 2300 square foot homes for that price range. We rarely get snow. Maybe a dusting once or twice a year. However, we are about fifty miles from the ocean.

If your husband wants to live near the ocean, might be a little harder to find work since the populations of the coastal communities are not growing rapidly, in many cases the school populations are declining. Hope this helps.
