Default Visiting Oregon

We are coming out to Oregon to visit Portland, Eugene, and Salem.
If you have any recommendations of areas that are nice to stay, please reply. We are planning a relocation to one of these cities and want to stay in an area that gives a nice taste of what each city has to offer.

I can't help you with where to stay but I can help you with the evaluation process. You might want to rate the following:

Downtown vibrancy_____
Airport_____
Shopping & Malls_____
New homes in the area_____
Existing homes in the area_____
Local Attractions_____
Cleanliness of the area_____
Friendliness of the locals____
City Setting Parks and Landscape_____
Restaurants in the area_____

Overall Rating_____ _____

Add to this your own personal criteria. Last but not least, talk to the locals.

Enjoy your stay!

Default Eugene Hilton

The hotel is comfortable enough (nothing too amazing, but fine) and its location is great for walking to downtown restaurants and the Saturday market.

Default areas to stay in

Thanks for the info! I will definitely use something like the list you gave.

Eugene Hilton: I will check that out.

Sometimes when you book a hotel you don't know if it is in a decent area. And the Hilton sounds perfect. We aren't looking for 4 star... 3 star is fine... we have a little one and want something that will work with him.
