Default Re: Californians in Oregon

Re: Your claim that Oregon is mostly californians
Can you back that claim up with data/statistics?
Thanks!

I ask because you made the claim there are mostly Californians Oregon, and I sincerely doubt that claim.
Obviously, you do not have data to substantiate this claim.

Oregon has averaged around 2500 new residents per month from California for at least 20-25 years. This is documented by the DMV. It's important to remember that these numbers do not differentiate where these people originally came from. Perhaps they originated in Iowa, Florida, Maine, Texas, Mexico. Perhaps some, like me, moved to California for a few years and moved back. It would be impossible to find out how many were native Californians who moved to Oregon. Hope this helps.

I think you need to lighten up. That comment was in response to someone who didn't want to move to Bend because it was "all Californians."

For all you know, I was referring to California as a spiritual condition. Or maybe I was making a joke.

Have a beer.

Play nicely, children. :-)

Oregon is enjoying the benefit of an influx of Californians WHO BRING THEIR MONEY WITH THEM. The old-time Oregonians who sell homes to them don't look back once their money is in the bank.

It must be human nature for all of us Americans to want to trash people from somewhere else. OR and WA people hate Californians, as do Idahoans. Southerners hate northerners and everybody in the whole country hates NY'rs (of which I am one).

Ain't we all Americans?

I dunno. I'm from California and have never once run into anti-Californian sentiment. That's a big myth -- that Oregonians hate Californians.

"We are all Americans"? does not mean we all like living the same life style and sadly, our differences are being homogenized.

What used to make one state unique is being lost--Colorado is "on the way" up for many and people coming here often bring expectations from Texas--gee, we can have a beer and get rowdy--or California--hurry up you idiot, you're in my way--, or the Midwest--why would you ever want to live any place that rained?--do affect where they move, especially if it has a different local culture.

After my husband got his degree, we had a choice of Detroit, New Jersey, New York, or California and I said I never wanted to spend my life on a freeway. Guess what? I still don't. So if a bunch of people move to a state and want new roads, bigger roads, etc, then that is going to ruin it for the people who don't. The ranches have become McMansions, the mountainsides have become McMansions, and the inhabitants now all want--you guessed it--freeways. The influx of a lot of people with simllar expectations might ruin a place for some people. Money does not give a justification for everything.

Why are McMansions bad?
Are you in Oregon?
Who wants freeways?
