Moving to Wilsonville (Woodburn, Canby: apartment, rent , work)

Dear all,

I'm moving from Egypt to Wilsonville, Oregon and I have many questions that I do appreciate if anyone can help to answer:

1- I don't have SSN and sure I will ask for it, but as I know you can't do anything without it but my wife was in USA before and has already SSN "Not Authorized for Working", can this help in renting, buying a car , open bank account and so on...?

2- What are the best places to rent an apartment from?

3- What is the suitable car model should I buy as I have two children 2+ years?

Yes, she will be able to use her social security number for any of those purposes. If she can find someone to sponsor her for a green card, she can get the "no work" restriction removed, but in the meantime, go ahead and use the number.

I can't help you there, but Wilsonville is a nice area. There has been quite a bit of immigrant crime among the Mexicans just south of there, at Woodburn (also known as "little Tijuana") and a state park near Canby was recently closed due to gang violence. The problem tends to be a bit seasonal, as the criminals who prey on the migrant farm workers leave in the winter.
