Default Is coos bay a nice area?

I am looking to relocate to the coos bay area. I was wondering how the economy is down there and if there are some nice places to rent as well as jobs?

Thanks

CD has a very good search feature, I found this in about 20 seconds.

Yes, Coos Bay has some nice areas.
And some not so nice areas.

Coos Bay is a wonderful area. To visit.

But it's one of the most economically depressed parts of Oregon, and always has been. Jobs are scarce, even Walmart and the Casino. The timber, shipping, and fishing industries have all been hit hard. Drug use and property crime/domestic abuse calls are up.

Unless you are moving there with a job that was offered to you, or a person is something like a writer or tele-commuter that can work literally anywhere, a person should never move to Coos Bay.
It's that depressed.

At this particular point in time I would NEVER recommend anyone moving here, especially for work. Our unemployment is through the roof and businesses are closing right and left. Even Albertson's left town! The other comments are accurate. Pretty to visit (if you know how to get off the highway) but a hard place to live. Beauty is abundant, as is poverty, drug abuse, bad politics, and the county is just about bankrupt. Not a top recommendation.

This is very accurate. The unemployment rate in Oregon is horrible, Coos Bay is about the hub of it.
