My observations are the same as Larry's.

Thanks for all the info. Like I said, I've been interviwed for a job there. I won't be going unless I actually get the job, so I don't have to worry on that front. I know some people will decide where they want to live first, and then try to find a job there, but I'm not that brave. I would never go anywhere else unless I had a job in hand.

Anyway, I'm liking the sound of not needing the A/C much. If it's really hot just for a few days in the heart of summer, it sounds like we could get by with just a couple of fans. That would really help out on the power bills.

Still waiting to hear something. I hate waiting. I'm about to the point that even a rejection would be welcome. Just so that I get an answer.

So what happened HAJ? I'm liking the sound of Roseburg. Will plan a visit in the spring to take a looksee. My biggest issue is animals. i want an area where I can report a dog barking incessantly, and hope someone will do something about it. I hope that isn't asking too much. I love animals, and can't bear to listen to them in distress. I want an area that has a decent shelter that actually cares about the animals. I have a couple pitbulls. My neighbor has walked our fence line threatening to shoot them - he's a drunk. My dogs are never off our property, unless in the car. We are very responsible rescuers and cherish our pets.

I spoke to Diana yesterday, she works for the SPCA in Josephine County. What a wonderful lady. Yes, I think this is an area I could get involved in.

One of my very favorite charities:

Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center

I give my support to local animal shelters that, unlike the big national organizations like HSUS, actually do something for animals.

That is fantastic! Not only providing shelter and adoptions, but medical care too, and getting a new building. This is the difference between private 501c orgs and gov't run - private is vastly better.
Here we have a county shelter that has been condemned twice by a grand jury, not even habitable for animals. The runs are outdoor only. Nothing has been done to that place in ten years. They claim underfunded, understaffed. Yet, they also say they have 3 million and need at least 4 more to buy the land for a new building! They've been saying that for years, nothing will change. We have a private one, but it's only for the city of Redding animals. Politics are keeping the two from merging.

The job was put on hold. No one was hired, no one was rejected. Just in limbo. I'm assuming that I won't get it and have moved on to looking elsewhere.
