I have pretty much gotten used to "damp and cool" as the default setting. It beats "hot and sticky" or "snowy and icy" IMHO. And it does make everything here nice and green, which you don't fully appreciate until you visit some godawful sun-blasted wasteland like Arizona or Texas.
OP here ... ah ... I'm in, and from, TEXAS ... "godawful sun blasted wasteland" ... just 'cause it hasn't rained in 9 months is no reason to get nasty you know But the nearly 90 days of over 100 degrees has broken (I hope).

Y'all have a good evening.

Thanks, I will---the present temperature being 67 degrees with a light breeze. We get very nice summers here to compensate for the eight-month rainy season.

And at least in Texas, you get frequent amusement of often bizarre varieties. Executions on pay-per-view, rodeos, that sorta thing. Why, just yesterday, Romney and Perry stripped down to thongs and went rasslin' in the prickly pear and sagebrush. One or the other won, but I don't remember which (and I doubt that it mattered, as Perry probably won't be able to campaign without opening his mouth again, which will doom him).

Does the rainy, cloudy winter weather that I hear about basically coincide with the eastern part of the state out to the orange/red marked areas? Thanks.
there are 2 mountain ranges in the green / wet areas of the map, going north to south (vertically on maps). so some of that wet is snow and ice for at least part of the year. you get the Cascades and the Coast Range.
