Default Nice lakes around the Newport area?

Hi, We are thinking of buying a oceanfront home and also a small lakefront home/condo around Lincoln County. We are looking for a nice lake within 1 hour of Lincoln County. Does anyone know of a nice, safe, well enough developed lake around there that is not Lake Oswega(spelling?)(to expensive for us)? If possible, it would be nice if it snowed in the winter there also. Thanks in Advance!

I can't think of any that are that close to Newport that'll get too much snow. On highway 126 going toward Eugene there is Fern Ridge. The little towns of Elmira nad Veneta are right by a lake there. It'll probably snow a couple of times of year but that's about all.

If you drive about 80 miles south of Newport there's Lakeside, Oregon, with the Ten Mile Lake that hosts several boating events during the summer months including drag boat races and sailboat races and fishing tournaments. I particularly liked the cardboard boat races they had about a month ago, lol. A big lake community.
