I did want to ask Freedom, we looked at a 'hood up in the hills, lovely newer homes but a very very steep hill. On a couple listing sheets we grabbed, I noticed the homes were not very expensive and there was a notice that an agent would discuss 'disclosures'. Is this area in trouble, like slidding down the hill or something? Just curious, thanks.
Do you recall if it is Laurel Ridge estates off of Highland, or Forest hills off of "F" st.

I would be glad to check if there are issues with any you are interested in. One thing to be aware of is if the builder/developer put the house on fill. Other than that, the ground is decomposed granite and tombstone granite, which is very compactable and strong. It can erode with water easily in the first year or two, but once it sets, it hard.

best wishes, glad you enjoyed your visit.

Freedom, I dont know the name of the area, just that it was west of town. It seemed like every other house was for sale in that area, but then, saw ALOT of for sale signs in many hoods all over GP. Signs of our time I guess.

Sorry someone thinks our exchange is not appropriate, feel free to Direct Message me with any questions.
Grants pass is not odd in that it is experiencing the same price correction and high risk loan problems that the rest of the nation is going through.
A large portion of home purchasing comes from outside the area, as we are a destination for retirees, and those that wish to get out of the rat race, so to speak. So if other areas are not selling, then they can't buy here.

best wishes on your search.

Thanks again freedom, GP is like the rest of us in the country as far as sales/ lack of buyers.

Exclamation Alas.....

Im very curious about the county library shut down. Are there any folks banding together in protest? Have there been any community repercussions, with personal fun, studying, etc? IS there a light at the end of this dark tunnel????

Protest? we either have public safety or libraries.

The libraries are now a non profit organization that is building itself as a PBS style membership. They should be up and going by the beginning of next year.

We do have at least 20 other county libraries that are at each school that we already pay for out of our tax dollars. Over half of them have summer reading programs, and for the adults there is the College library and also a book swap business in downtown.

Please tell us why it was a huge let down for you. We are considering this area for a move.
