Silly question, but did Oregon ever have Border Protection Stations like that? I find that commercial rather ironic, since I have only ever seen checkpoints like that going into California.

Yes, there are checkpoints going into California. They are to prevent infected agricultural products from getting into the state and costing millions in agricultural damage.

I don't remember any agricultural checkpoints ever going into Oregon, although there really should be since agriculture is such a major economic factor in Oregon.

Idaho has one where boats coming into the state have to be inspected for invasive species.

Imagine the traffic snarl getting across the Columbia if every car was stopped and questioned about produce

There is an ag inspection station south of Brookings on 101.

There is a boat inspection station on I5, just north of Ashland at the weigh station. I think it is still seasonal.

Not coming into the state. It's a beer commercial that was meant to be entertaining, not a documentary.
