Meth yes. Cocaine... not really. Crazy people, yes and no.

Southern Oregon is economically depressed due to repeated down turns in the economy, lots of people live near or under the poverty line. Meth is an extremely cheap way to forget your troubles.

Craziness is subjective. People can be a bit stubborn, like the Tea Party members who were verbally attacking the Move On group. They're protective over their property, and their jobs. There is a lot of "this is the way it's always been, we don't need to change it because you say so." A lot of this is due to repeated "invasions" of "Rich Californians," over the years who then tried to change Oregon to suit themselves.

On the other hand if you go in friendly and polite, you'll find Southern Oregon People to be some of the best people around.

There are a number of youth activities in Josephine county and the city of Grants Pass, lots of sports from swimming, soccer, football and baseball just to name a few. There are also a number of scouting troops in the area, boy scouts and cub scouts.
This really surprised me. Glad to see some of those schools are doing really well. When I went through GPSD 7 all the schools were really good, but I wasn't sure how it has been in recent years.
