Default Moving to Madras Oregon area

We are moving to the area, and are looking for the best place to live in. Prineville and Redmond look nice on their websites, but are there apartments, condos for rent or lofts in that area?

By "Madras" do you mean the town or just the general area? If you are going to work in Madras, both Prineville and Redmond are quite a bit of a commute down two-lane road (of course, one of the two-lane roads is Hwy 97, the main north-south route out there).

Madras and Prineville are very small agricultural communities - you're not likely to find city-style lofts or condos in either place. Apartments probably, houses for rent, definitely. I like Redmond, it has an interesting downtown area, but the through traffic in the narrow, one-way downtown would drive me insane if I lived there - fighting with all the tourist gridlock traffic just to get to the bank would make me want to hit something.
