Goes both ways I suppose.. You're all doom and gloom, and how bad oregon is for someone like me, and all I see is an opportunity to try another chance at life in a beautiful place... I NEVER said I thought I was coming to a utopia, it will be struggle, and hardship, possibly starvation, but its FAR more of a shot then I will get here! Oregon is a gorgeous green rainy place, which is the very substance of life for me! All my life, I've avoided the sun and the heat, looking for a place that gets cold, and LOTS of rain, but WITHOUT the 6 months of the worst snow in the nation, which describes my hometown of Buffalo, NY! And don't tell me the winter snow is worse in oregon then buffalo, cause NO place in america gets worse winters then Buffalo.. So yes, give up, and please make room for someone with actual suggestions to survive there, instead of just "don't come"..I KNOW jobs will be impossible to find, but I am perfectly capable of creating my own ways to get money! Which I've done for most of my life anyway!

Default Saying it over and over will not make it so.

I believe someone can move successfully if its planned correctly. No need to be so fatal about everything. 12k is not much of a nest egg to start a new life. There is plenty of work in other regions some are even near an ocean. Why not plan for the best possible outcome and account for all of the factors that would yield success. Taking a rational approach to the problem is much preferred to the "I can make it work" mantra. The people here are trying to help. Listen to the facts and discount opinion as needed. Most of all Use other resources to fully evaluate your choices.

Good luck on your dream.

So which do you prefer, AnimalloverJJD or professorjpj?

I have to ask, if you are so self-sufficient, why do you need anybodys approval on anything?
Why do you have to explain yourself to anybody?
Obviously you ain't gettin what you need on this forum(s).

You're a free spirit, so why don't you just come on over and give it a try?
The only thing holding you back is $200 bus or plane ticket.
You could be here in a couple of days.

At least it's almost summer and the weather is good.

This is the part that you're missing. IT DOES NOT EXIST!!

Small Oregon Towns don't have jobs, nor have a cheap COL! If they did, everyone would move there and it would no longer be cheap or small! (IE, Bend!)

As you're determined to do this, look at Newport, Lincoln City, Astoria and possibly Coos Bay as destinations, none are small towns or very small cities. They'll have the best combination of COL/Jobs on the Coast though. Aberdeen in Washington is your best bet there.

And your stated purpose is to come here to die. We may have Dr. Assited Suicide, but suicide is still illegal, even by starvation.

IF they wish to waste state money and arrest a corpse, it wouldn't bother me! Hahaha! By the way, so far the most difficult part about planning all this is finding a money belt thats completely hidden, for large amounts of cash! I'm not sure they exist, even online! I may have to actually find a way to make one myself, or pay to have it custom made! I've been looking for one for a week now in vegas, and they don't exist here....
