Default Is this normal May weather?

Just curious, but here in Newport we've had sun for most of this week - and I'm finding myself missing the overcast and rain (strange, I know) that I had the past 2 weeks.

I thought May was normally still overcast and rainy. Is this just a lucky window of sun? Or is this the start of "summer"?

Probably just a window. They happen all the time, though. Summer doesn't really hit until almost July.

We had frost at my house this morning, a little late, though May 15 is the traditional last frost.

I tend to think of May as no longer gloomy season. The weather tends to be in blocks around now - 2 to 5 days sun, 2 to 5 days rain. Not out of the woods as far as rain goes but you will likely be able to barbecue without drowning.

It's going to be pretty warm here the next 5 days or so.

Last May there were several cloudy, rainy, cool days.

You never know what Mother Nature has planned from one year to the next.

Thanks all! Before moving here, all I kept hearing about was rain and cloudy days - so this warming spell was unexpected :-) I need to find a solution to open up more windows and doors without letting the flying critters in, yet can't do any permanent screens because I rent. Oh well, more research it seems...

There are sceens you can put in your windows without any installation.
They slide out to fit the frame from side to side. You just open the window put them in and close the window down to the top of the screen. Kind of like a window airconditioner.

I used these when I rented an older house that had no screens. I got them at a ma and pa hardware store. I bet Home Depot and stores like that would also have them.

Here is an example of what I am talking about. I had the sliding adjustable screens.
