Hi Danube; just saw your post and have little time so I'll be brief.
We moved here a couple of days after Christmas.
This is the last cool town in America!! It doesn't have everything - but Salem is 15 miles away. There's no work right here, really. The Redman Plant is shutting down in about 6 weeks - puts 160 people out of work. That's hard. The Poetry festival is going on right now - I think. Haven't had a lot of time with work and all - wish I could go - I'm a published poet ... but don't know why ... 'cept I rhyme all the tyme ... and my feet show it (they're long fellows).
I'm happy with the selection at Roth's (IGA) Grocery - pricey though. I've gotten Safeway to get a few things - I barely have to go to Salem for food anymore 'cept at the health-food store. And the RESTAURANTS!! Gad - they're all good to Great! Gained back 30 of the 45 pounds I lost in just 3 months. Especially Fratelli's! Oh - and the Bavarian Haus at Mt. Angel; and The Home Place; and Mac's; and The Wooden Nickel; and O'Brien's for Sunday Morning breakfast is really cool; and WaterMountain, and The Happy Jing; and Las Grazoles; and The Townhouse; and The Glockenspiel at Mt. Angel; And the wineries!
HeeHee - yep, I moved. Right here across from The Home Place - running rentals.
So, I still go to WallyWorld to supplement things - and The Macedonian; and Shari's; And a few restaurants in Salem too. And have been to a couple of the falls (North and South). What a town! (Shhhhhh)
