Default Moving to Oregon! Where should I call home?!

I will be moving to Oregon soon and still trying to determine which city would be best for me and my fiance. I'm really interested in either Eugene, Corvallis, or Bend. I have been to Portland and the northern part of Oregon and loved it. But I'm looking for something a bit different. Do you have any suggestions on which city is best? Lots of job opportunities, low prices on houses/apartments, low crime rate, and outdoor activities like camping, canoeing, hiking, and backpacking are some of the things I'm looking for as well. I don't want to be surrounded by heavy traffic in a big city but I also don't want to be too far from civilization either. I love my mountains and scenery. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Stop right here: "Lots of job opportunities" has never described Oregon outside of Portland, Eugene, and perhaps Bend.

What KIND of jobs are you looking for? Labor? Fast Food? Lawyers? Doctors? Engineers?

You can get the outdoors activities from pretty much anywhere in Oregon.

Corvallis is expensive. Your low cost requirement rules that out. I wouldn't call Bend cheap either and unemployment is really high there. Eugene is probably your best choice, but it doesn't have mountains like Bend does.

Seems like you should consider Salem and Albany to meet more of your criteria, but maybe there's a reason you left those off your list...

High unemployment rate is just about everywhere right now..and when I say "Lots" I mean what city or area would have more to chose from compared to other places. I've camped and traveled up through all of Northern Oregon and WA. I'm from Western Montana so I know how the job opportunities and cost of living is out here Just wanted some other opinions because I've heard a lot of different things. I'm looking for a job that is between $9-12/hr and either an apartment or house thats affordable around a $600-900 budget per month. Just trying to see which area I should focus on more when I come there myself to see what would be best for us.

Actually not. Oregon has an unemployment rate of 8.5%, but the unemployment rate in Washington County is only 6.9%, while the unemployment rate in Josephine County is 15%. Full employment (everyone working who can hold a job) is 5%, so Washington County isn't a bad bet for a job. Only one person in 50 who is actually unemployable is out of work. OTOH, at 15% unemployment, one person in 10 who is employable is out of a job, so things are a lot worse in Southern Oregon than the percentages would suggest.

Corvallis. I went to college there and worked there about 20 years ago. It's a small town full of really intelligent people that has not lost its rural roots.
