IMHO, i love the weather we have here in southwest Oregon. I feel most of our winters are pretty mild compared to most of our beautiful country. We have no tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, Ice Storms usually, to speak of. The coldest it was ever here, since i've lived in these mountains, is 10 degrees for a couple days. Usually the winters coldest days are in the 20's.

Often we get weather Sun breaks in the winter (especially above 2000'). In February we can get some sunny days in the 70's. I'm very fortunate to be living in Beautiful Oregon...

Hawk, are you above 2000'? My brother is thinking of moving to Southwest Oregon. However, he would like to get some snow in the winter. We're at about 1050' and get snow, but only about 4 or 5 inches a couple of times during the winter.
Do you get more snow up on your mountain?

I'm right at about 2000', on the south side of the mountain. A lot of times i will hear on the news, it's very windy in the Rogue Valley. Here we get very little wind. The mountains protect us.

Most winters i will get some snow at my elevation, maybe 4 or 5 times (there is more snow higher up). Usually melts in a few days. I think the most i've ever gotten is about 8 or 9 inches. A few winters we've only gotten a dusting of snow. Quite a lot of winter days i will get about one or two hours of afternoon sun. Some days partial sun.

There was more snow in winter, about 30 years ago, or more.

I guess if he wants lots of snow, he'll have to go elsewhere. LOL

Only one winter storm i had a lot of tree branch's snapping from ice, years ago. It's not foggy very often, just cloudy.

It might snow more by Applegate Lake, Maybe Selma area. I know it snows by Howard Prarie Lake, Lake of the Woods, Hyatt Lake, Diamond Lake, etc.

I'm ready for rain too, but at least we don't have very many forest fires going on. Some years the whole state is burning up. Today is absolutely glorious, cool and sunny, with a brisk breeze. Of course, the grass crunches under your feet, but it's beautiful out there.

People seem to take the rain so seriously these days. I remember a time when it was a source of humor. There were even little books with cartoons all about the rain. It had jokes in it like "People in Oregon don't tan, they rust." and "You know you're a true Oregonian when you grow webs between your toes."

Now it's such a somber subject. I think we should start laughing about it again. Or at least give it a little chuckle.
