Wanting to move to REDMOND OR BEND!Need Info

I currently work for US CELLULAR..now thats my 1st question, is there us cellular stores in BEND OR REDMOND? Just want to make sure...
And were thinking about renting a home for the 1st yr..do u guys recommend any certain websites to locate these homes??
And which city would u recommend..BEND OR REDMOND??
Now are there colleges in these cities? Currently my gf is going to school for interior design..so i just want to make sure theres opportunities out there for her...

Come on now, you all make some great cheese.....
Bend or Redmond are terrific areas, I am sure a search would turn up multiple US Cellular opportunities. There is a Community College that has some Textile programs, but for a specific degree in Interior design, she may need to go to Corvallis, or Portland, Or Eugene.
Redmond would most likely be more affordable for a future purchase. Bend has a lot of nice homes and clientel for the interior design field.
best wishes

Redmond or Bend
There aren't any interior design schools in Central Oregon - Portland would probably be the best place to find a school, but there are also some accredited on-line schools that could be possibilities. Bend has Central Oregon Community College that has a small brnach in Redmond and it also has OSU Cascades, a small branch of OSU, but neither of them offers interior design courses. Redmond and Bend both have US Cellular sales offices, but Redmond also has a T-Mobile call center and it is always looking for people who know something about customer service and cell phones, so that could be an option for you. Redmond is going to be less expensive than Bend, but since the housing market is stumbling, there might be some rental places in Bend that meet your budget. The pay scale is likely going to be lower than you are used to, whether Bend or Redmond. Redmond and Bend are very different, so take anopther look at the kinds of things you really don't like about where you live (Central Oregon is a microbrew haven, so you'll find pubs and bars here too) and what things you are looking to move to and why Central Oregon looks like the right place for you.

All of Central Oregon has a higher rate of unemployment than the national average (and most of the rest of Oregon). There are jobs, of course, but most are service sector and don't pay very well. I'd encourage your sister to find a job before moving here unless she is a nurse or other professional in demand in the area (check out the Bend Bulletin for job listings - it's pretty bleak right now). House prices have tumbled in Redmond as they have everywhere else and there are some real bargains If a job can be found it could be a great time to move.

Bend had a housing bubble, a big one. The bubble has been pricked, so to speak. My advise is to rent for a couple years, get to know the neighborhoods. Houses will be decreasing in value for a couple years.
