Between the Medford/Ashland, Klamath Falls, Grants Pass, and Coos Bay posts, there seems to be a valid reason for representing the population of Southern Oregon with its own sub-forum.

How about it?

Subforums are generally created by the number of posts in the main forum about an area. Bend has a subforum because, even though the Bend metro area is smaller than the Medford metro area, there were more posts about Bend than Medford.

It seems that there are a lot of posts about Grants Pass and Medford. It would be nice to have a Southern Oregon Forum.

Include Klamath Falls and Beatty. And have a South Coast Forum also from Florence to Brookings.

I agree. They need all the help they can get down there!

Well, that's one way to look at it.

A Rogue Valley forum would be nice though for the GP/Medford/Ashland area. Southern Oregon is a little too broad I think...

There aren't enough Southern Oregon posts to warrant a separate subforum. If there were, the posts on the bottom of the first page would be very old, the ones on the bottom of the second page would be ancient.

Posts that involve several Oregon areas, including Southern Oregon, such as, “should I move to Medford or Salem", would be in the general Oregon forum, anyway.

New subforums are needed when posts about an identifiable area crowd out the others making them hard to find.

A Southern Oregon subforum might make the people who live there feel more important, but that is not the purpose of a subforum.

I could see where a subforum for the Oregon coast might be considered, but I am not sure that even that is justified.

The Salem subforum is a good example of that - the first 4 posts are from October (today is Nov 3) and then the posts are from September. I get that it's the state capitol, but there really isn't enough interest to rate an entire forum. Of course, you could pretty much say that about all of the Oregon subforums, except Portland.
