[TEXAS-T, It appears there have been some improvements in the Community sense I first Posted in 2003.The Military transfer I am quite sure delighted to local RealEstate market, added to the prosperity of local shops. However I still see one living in to narrow a circle of life.At first everthing is new. You find where services and products are located to supply and maintain the function of the life-style you try to develope.I soon saw in 03 that once that was done! Around & around & around that little circle would go.Oregon is a beautiful State.Full of high quality scenery
and many places to visit, but most are some distance away.
Unless you are the exception & there are many.Given the average household income available to it with everyday normal expenses (currently)still seem to leave that Circle confineing. In Asian Countries as well as others. Folks "work"to"live. Over here we seem to live-to work.
I guess what my rambling is saying, "HEY KLAMATH" "GET A LIFE" no more Dress=Rehersals Folks are ready to come from far and near with there children and dogs. What smell is in the air that they should place those valueables in Your-Town.PEACE JOY AND PROSPERITY.....I might also say I am not a self appointed-critic,,,,I still Love Oregon...Two weeks ago we signed on a place in Powers Oregon just in from the Coast in Coos County,,,Packing up now!

Klamath Falls and the surrounding area IS growing - on net, more people move in than out. As the city grows, all kinds of opportunities increase. Sorry it hasn't happened fast enough for some people, but, IMO, it's FAR better for a town to grow at 3-4% a year than what happened in Bend, where the rate was 12-25% and the people and housing and infrastructure and jobs couldn't keep up. Drive up to Bend and talk to locals and hear the resentment and anger at the too-fast changes in their town.
Right now, the worst infrastructure problem KFalls has is 6th and Washburn (which could be solved by putting in other through connectors to Washburn) and the fact that the city/county seems to think that all development should go on Washburn, which won't be able to handle it without support.

I agree, PNW. For those people outside the Basin, if you want KFalls to grow faster, too bad. Some of us like that it is taking time to grow. Growing pains can kill a community. We need to be able to have medical and police services to match the growth too.
BTW: Aren't they planning a road from East Main to Maywood Dr?

Sounds a little high...in good areas of Portland, you can get the 4/2.5/2 car with about 2100-2400 sf and that kind of lot for 369k to 429k, more or less, all day long right now...

This "general" price quote is incorrect. The Running Y is the only area, in Klamath Falls, at this time with prices in this range. The rest of the Basin is priced appropriately.

Talking to my builder and a few others, both residential and commercial have slowed down, especially at the "spec builder" end of things. Commercial plans have been postponed or just moved back a bit, while a lot of residential has just been put on hold - especially the higher-end houses (usually built for out-of-area people" who need to sell their house wherever they are now).
I think we've talked about this before, but there are houses on the MLS right now for as little as $70,000 (stick built, but tiny on a tiny lot in town) up to about $800,000, with most houses being in the $150,000-$275,000 range.
