Default Near Umpqua River

Is there any towns/cities near the Umpqua that have any decent economy at this time? just thought i'd ask, as it seems to be a great area, also the Rogue River by coast I'd much prefer coastal area.

To a great extent, the economy depends on your skill set and expectations. Engineers seem to do well, particularly if they have their LPE. Educators can usually find a job. There is a chronic shortage of physicians and other medical personnel. If you meet those qualifications, you will easily find people eager to recruit you. Otherwise, you should go job hunting before you go house hunting.

Default How about Gold Beach?

Gold Beach is on the coast and is where the Rogue river enters the ocean. The weather is great on the south coast and the little town of Gold Beach is growing, with new shops, big stores, botiques, a harbor area, and nice overall economy. I'm originally from just north of Gold Beach and am thinking of relocating down that way.

Default Towns on the Umpqua

The only community of real size on the Umpqua is Roseburg in the heart of the valley an hour and a half from the coast. While not the most economically diversified, there are certainly a range of occupational options.
The town of Reedsport at the mouth of the Umpqua is a neat town but unless your looking for seasonal tourism not much else to offer there. South coast possibly Coos Bay will have the most to offer.
