About 5 inches of snow fell at my place in Rogue River and I stayed in the house all day. I hope the roads are not too icy on Sunday as I need to get out and head for the fitness center.

Wow. Chilly tonight. We are hitting single digits in the Rogue Valley, with 20-30 below on the eastside!

Beautiful snowstorm though. Had a blast sledding in it today.

I just saw an observation of -39 for Christmas Valley in South Central Oregon. Sheesh that is downright arctic! Coldest I recall in my 15 years in Oregon.

Ah, a cold winter morning with the dulcet sound of water taps dripping.... low of 5° here in East Medford, 4" of snow Friday and none since. Roads are ugly because they partly melted yesterday and then refroze - very icy. At the Agency Lake house, low of -10° (Chiloquin, just over the hill, is about 6° colder, but we were always semi-protected by the lake) and a total of about 15" of snow over Friday and Saturday. Brrrr.

Fortunately, the new gas insert for the fireplace was just installed last Friday, so we have something toasty warm to sit in front of. It's an Avalon and it has three sets of progressively larger burners so that you can adjust how many burners you have going at a time, plus turn them up or down.

Now to get the "lazy person's wood stove" (pellet stove) installed in the daylight basement....

I found a -41 at Horse Ridge just outside of Bend but I don't know how reliable it is.

Will the major roads and highways get plowed tomorrow, or will it just melt away?
