We are hoping to relocate to Oregon very soon. I'm open to living in any northern Oregon area, but where we end up essentially relies on where my husband finds work. Does anyone know which area is good for welding/fabricating employment? I really, really love the look of astoria, but was just reading that there aren't many employment opportunities there.

Out of Astoria he may be able to find a crew job on the Salvage Chief. He would be gone sometimes. Don't confine your job search to land. Ships need welders on the crew.

NOAA just relocated to Newport. The ship repair industry maybe picking up there in response to potential needs.

Go to the Oregon employment web site: State of Oregon: Employment Department Job Listings
Select Oregon Jobs that will bring up another page.
Select Occupation that will bring up a menu of occupations
Select Metal and Plastic this will list all the welding jobs that the Employment Department has by area.
