Default Rain and Kids?

What is available in terms of activities for kids when the weather is too rainy outside to play in the park. Any suggestions that are either low to no costs?

Thanks.

Give them a jar of molasses and feather pillows for a pillow fight.
That will keep them busy for hours.

Rain ? How about a raincoat? Try living in a million other cities/towns that have weather so cold you could freeze to death going out to check your mail.OK, slight exaggeration,,but rain in Oregon rarely stopped my kids from going outside.

Default Where?

I grew up on the coast and rain never stopped us from playing outside. Mom just had towels and dry clothes for us when we came in. lol It depends on where you are in Oregon for things to do. I am a nanny now and I take the kids to some open gyms around town, or to the library...Where are you looking for things to do?

Depending on how old your kids are: in Salem there are 4 tot indoor parks for kids 0-5. They are inexpensive co-ops and so worth it.

If you are looking for indoor activities I do obstacle courses with my kids in the house. These are fun and I just use household items. You can email me offlist if you want some ideas.

I'm also a big fan of a good raincoat and boots, and my kids hit the puddles. Lots of good towels right out of the dryer and warm cocoa when them come in.

Default Rain, what rain???

I remember when I lived on the West (Wet) side of the state that people always said that 'we don't tan, we just rust'. What kids can do to pass the time varies so much depending on which city or town you live in or near. But to be honest with you, most kids (I have two) are so adaptable that rain or snow never seem to hamper outdoor activities to a great degree.

But the ultimate indoor pursuit for kids center around the arts and literature. Almost any communnity, no matter how small offers music, reading, theater, crafts programs for kids to take advantage during the winter months.
