I don't know if the OP is still monitoring this thread, since it is old..... but going to add my .02 cents worth anyway..!!
I see Op is from Apple Valley, Calif. My wife and I also live in Apple Valley. We moved here three years ago after living in OC for 50 years.
We have owned a very nice home in Molalla for eleven years now. We purchased it with plans to retire there. We have family there, but after visiting there several times of year, investigating all of the seasons, we decided we couldn't take the constant dreary weather. Even in the desert, my wife has her blanket on in July...!!
We decided to find a nice place within an hour's drive from OC, so we could visit the people and places we left behind. After much investigation, we selected AV , and haven't regretted a minute of it. The RE prices are low, the traffic is a dream, I have nothing to complain about here. It's God's country.
We still visit beautiful Oregon several times a year, and it does have it great points, but it's always nice to get back to sun and warmth. I would love to hear why one would want to move from AV, to Oregon...?
I have lived many places, most in OC, but some in other states, and I believe one can be happy no matter where they live, if they are a positive person. If you can't be happy somewhere, you can't be happy anywhere...!!
