anyone from Southern Ca that really wants to move back? (Coos Bay: renting, house)

I see there is another post similar to this one but I thought I would throw it out there anyways. I moved to Coos Bay from San Diego in Feb 05' because i wanted to buy a house and because I wanted to stay close to the Ocean. Oregon is so gloomy and so cold and so DARK during the winter...and the hillbillys...wow!

You can probably share your experience without putting people down.
I suggest next time.... do your homework. You didn't really think the Oregon coast was anything like S.D.

And being from the O.C. I would not go back for anything that comes to mind right now.
The true Southern Oregon is awesome. Ye haw...

I moved to Oregon from Alaska. And I love it. Darkness here is nothing compared to darkness in Alaska. People are more enjoying life here, more relaxed.

Man do I want to go back to Gloomy ORegon. I do understand the original poster though. It seems that I just can not get over my home state of Oregon (and washington). I have tried Texas (too humid), and now colorado (will it ever stop snowing here????) and all I think about is moving back to the land I love, the Pac NW. Go back to SD, homes are more affordable. You will be happy because you are back. You will thank god your back.

I think you will find that just about any state you'd care to visit will have its share of "hillbillies." It has nothing to do with being from Oregon but rather it is a consequence of living in a small town with virtually no access to a city of any size. People who live without regular exposure to the business and cultural amenities found in sizeable cities are often perceived as backward or as in your estimation, hillbillies. But really, it is just a matter of vastly different priorities.

I for one would love to meet hillbillys. That is the kind of life I would like us to go back to. I call it the simple kind of people who don't want the fast pase lifestyle. Who except their life as it is. Raise there children better than some do. Their family's are closer because of it. Do not have to have every kind of expensive toy they sell. Make due with what they have.

I think it is very refreshing to meet people who really know what life is all about. Maybe they are not rich but then so many rich people miss out on a lot.

Sorry to be so nitpicky.

I don't begrudge people their toys unless they are also in over their heads with debt and don't do the parenting necessary to keep their kids from being brats. It's all about balance.
