Default Need Help - Traveling in the Siskiyou this weekend

I am going through the Siskiyous on I-5 this weekend on the way to So. California. Has anybody gone through there in the past few days, and if so, what were the conditions like? Do snow plows get out pretty early in the morning? Do they lay down gravel? We will be hitting the high points around 9:30am.

Thanks much!

Right now they are requiring chains for 27 miles of the Siskiyous. For forecast and current conditions, you may want to check out this link.

Click on which ever camera you would like to look at and voila. Gotta love the information age....
Safe travels,

freedom

Thanks. I've been using Trip Check for the past few days to monitor things, but it's often times hard to tell if the road is clear or not. I did purchase some chains the other day, and I will be making sure they fit tonight.

Want to travel safe down through here this winter?

Go to Google and search this keyword phrase ...

"2 emergency travel kits"

Read one of the first results

Nothing goes to waste, and can even be used for occassional enjoyment.

We just came through another pass yesterday and I had to put chains on. One ended up breaking. So I have another tip for you to help incase this happens to you. Bring some wire so you can fix the chain so it doesn't do any damage to your vehicle. I did not have anything with me to fix it, but a couple that was also stopped had the wire and did the quick fix and it saved me!
