Less migraines in the Pacific Northwest?
I get weather headaches frequently and migraines regularly. I am on daily beta blockers x 20some years. Couldn't live without Imitrex but would like to.
I have heard that San Diego, Hawaii and the Pacific NW are good places for having less frequent weather headaches.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

The only headaches I've gotten where mainly due to mold. Most of the homes I lived in had some kind of mold problem. Seems to be common in Oregon because I've never seen or had any problems with mold in SoCal or Colorado.

I'm no expert, but if your headaches are brought about by changes in barometric pressure then the PNW may not be the best place for you. Lots of fluctuations.

That's why my elbows and knees hurt when a system comes through. The lowering pressure causes gas bubbles to expand in the joints. Maybe you have bubbles on the brain ! Just joking, a bad headache isn't fun at all. If you do some googling you might find out if there are areas where migraines are not common.

I also suffer from migraines and weather related headaches and take Imitrex. Moderator cut: linking to competitors sites is not allowed

I've live in this area almost all of my life but didn't start having migraines until I was 60.

I recently moved from Portland (lived there 20 years) to NC (the triangle area). I've had fewer migraines in NC. It seems I get fewer when it's hot and humid. (I moved to NC in July 07). Good luck! Migraines are the worst!

MAJOR Migraines in the Pacific NW
Hi there,
I lived in Washington state for 15 years and suffered constantly with horrible migraine/sinus headaches. Nothing helped them, I just had to tough it out. They would last anywhere from 2-10 days, usually about 4. I missed a lot of work. I began to suspect it was weather related - the huge barometric pressure changes. Three years ago we moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. I have not had one of these headaches since we moved here. I could count on at least one horrible headache a month in Washington. I LOVED living there, but don't think we can move back as the headaches were enough to make me want to die. My daughter still lives there, and practically lives on Imitrex for her horrible headaches. She moved there from So. Calif. and never had a headache there.
Good luck!
