OMG...its Mikemorrow! I was wonderin what happened to you.....kinda figured you were just out enjoying life along the coast and too busy doing that to write on the forum. lol Good to hear your still alive, kickin, and enjoying living here.
We were outside for most of yesterday, washed the cars, and bought ice cream from the icecream man. Clear and beautiful, but it was pretty cold! I think it was about high 50s/low 60s. too cold for ME for ice cream, but sure not the kids! (or the husband! lol)

first of all, its not gonna be any less expensive.
a house is a house, if there is a nice town, that means there are businesses and transactions we dont hav ghost towns any more, if there is a ghost twon then theres no place to work for hunderds of miles so its not good to you as a social worker or a whatever you do, cause theres no one for miles. no possoibility for even one customer at all. so you have to have a nice town.
folks arent stupid. theyre gonna sell the house or apartment or condo at a good hefty price.
but yeah theres lots of opportunities.
if you sell your assets down there in so cal or other place, then equal those to get new ones here in oregon, that could work
i think the whole oregon coats gets rain, further south less, but not really you have to go inland to get less rain
smaller towns beat LA by far, less traffic and the whole mess
better quality of life is worth it. to me its relaly worth it, i will go the extra mile to have aquieter and nicer quality of life, rather than constant shattering hustle and bustle of major cites.

PEAVCE and love is fun. a city that allows that is worth it
not all areas of inner cities offer that fun and freedom and peaceful feeling
many are really busy and work oriented. i woudl rather live outside , commutte along way into town, and work in town !!!~

That's not true. We have four seasons here. rainy, friggin' rainy, overcast and windy, and foggy (there is virtually no rain in the last two seasons).

nope.
whats bad, was my husband used to work for Umpqua Dairy, so ALL the free icecream we could all eat....now its not so bad to turn down icecream from the icecream truck, but that Umpqua stuff, ohhhh...thats some TASTY icecream! I could make myself eat it when the temps were down lower than the 80s. hehe

I would agree with BLAZER PROPHET that Newport and Depoe Bay might be decent bets.

You and your wife have great professions for beach life but your request for little rain does put a hamper on things! Newport have opportunities for both of you. When you live in that area, you can find decent housing that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Toledo it in from the coast, but does have a slight break in the rain. Unfortunately the largest marine builder there has sold out and moving his whole operation further south. There is, however, always work on the boats. Newports fleet is larger than Depoe Bays and your wife would have better luck finding work in Newport. Further north, there is Garabaldi. Small town, small fleet but a really nice place. Keep heading north and you'll hit Astoria. May be work for both of you up in that area. Oregon rains...that's why she's so green. But there are a lot of really stunning sunny days and the pace along the coast is very relaxing.
Good luck.
