Default need info on elder housing/s.oregon

Hello..I would like to ask everyone on here what is the law stating you can have a mobile home on your own land for your elderly relative ? I have heard you can house your elderly on your property as long as they live, then when they are no longer living, you must remove the structure within something like 6mos. of your loved ones death..where do you find out the ins/outs of this law or whatever it is called..I am thinking about the GP/southern oregon area..Do you pay extra property tax for this also?
Costs of affordable elderly assisted living is out-rageous!! Not to mention scarry..
Thanks!! M.G.

I think the rules vary depending on each county. I know that here in Deschutes COunty, mobile homes are classified in different categories and whether one is permitted or not depends on its classification and zoning for the particular location. So, if for example you're interested in the Medford area, go to the Jackson County website and look for zoning regulations for manufactured homes. I hope this helps!

Grants Pass is in Josephine County, south of there is Jackson County. Go to either one of their websites and you'll probably find your answer, or at the very least, a phone number to call. I think you'll need to talk to someone in the planning department.

I lived in Jackson County and my neighbor put a mobile home on his land for his mother. I "think" he had some sort of a hardship exemption, but I'm not positive.

Good luck to you.

We had some friends who had a big ole lot of land out in Mulino Oregon. Where she was at, you could only have one home per every 5 acres....her folks ended up moving here too and needed to be close by, she was able to build a modular home right by hers for them, and they lived there next to them for the rest of their lives. All i know was it was a hardship home, and after her folks passed on, she had to just disconnect the electricity and something w/the stove.....
I agree, check county to county, im sure the laws vary from each...i have no idea about property taxes or anything..sorry i cant be of more help. Good luck!
Tiffany

Here is a HUD link that may prove useful: PHA Contact Information - OR - HUD

HUD also has a tool to find privately owned supported housing units.
