Looking for any retired Coast Guard in the State of Oregon that can contact me and offer some insight into the Tricare system in the state. I am moving from an area of New Mexico that still offers Tricare Prime and I understand that Tricare Prime may not be available in Oregon which will force me into Tricare Standard. Any assistance or advice would be helpful.

Tricare in Oregon sucks. Very few doctors will accept it, so even if Prime is available in your area, you'll be hard pressed to find a physician.

As far as I know, you can still use Prime in the Willamette Vally, but it is not available in Central Oregon and they won't let you drive to the valley to use it, even though you have to drive to the valley anyway in order to get a doctor who will accept Tricare Standard.

The hospitals in Salem and Bend accept tricare, and they are good hospitlas, but you can't use them for day to day care.
