We'll be living in Junction City as of Wednesday night...the movers are here right now packing up our house. Save me some snow!
I definitely won't miss the tortuous summer heat in Southern California. Or the Real Housewives of Orange County....
Can't wait to be up there!

Welcome to the great PNW!
Here's hoping all goes well with your move Time-wise, it sounds like you'll be stepping in the car soon, or are you flying up? That'd be a Haul to drive.

Be careful - carry chains. The passes between Weed & Medford can be a (scribble here) this time of year. They have shut that part of I5 down before, leaving people stranded. Pack plenty of water and snax. For the people & the puppy.
Godspeed.

And you call the Oregon coast cold?
I can hardly wait.

Well, I don't know where you were before that. I grew up in your area and spent over 30 years in the Rockies with temps like -58, -45, -22 ... for months at a time! Night-time temps.
What you may not realize, esya, is that colder temps are dryer and easier to take ... to a certain extent. Comfortable starts at around -10. Anything above that is just bone-chilling. So yeah 32 degrees feels colder than 10 below on average - that moisture will getcha!

oh, yeah, I spent another decade down the valley from Mt Evans and 40 below was not unusual. I was younger then, and had more insulation on my skin. Or maybe I just stayed in more. Before that, it was Ohio as a kid. My goal is one of those places where the climate graphs show nothing below 35 and nothing above 90. Which means a beach or an island, basically.
