UB,
Well, the snow (sorry, "rain/Yankee Sunshine/liquid equivalent") is coming down right now. I will post tomorrow morning's results!

Thanks again for posting...sure do appreciate it.

WEll if you all are sick of so much rain, stick some fans outside your homes on high, point them to the east, south-east and share some of that moisture!

HI!!!
I have lots of questions-because I'm considering a relocation there in the next year. North Carolina is on my radar because I want to go to grad school there (UNC at Chapel Hill specifically) for Genetics; and South Carolina becaue I love Charleston- because I have family and friends close by, and the idea of living so close to the warm ocean - ours is FREEZINg.
I assume I'd have better luck finding a job in the Raleigh/Durham area than Charleston, correct?
What about Cost of living, are they comparable? Is the humidity similar in both areas? How about crowds? I'm coming from a 1 million plus metro area (and have lived in smaller too) - is either place more tolerable in terms of commute time(mine can be 45 - 1 hour to go 15 miles)
Thanks!!!

[quote=tangerinepuddle;2724088]HI!!!

In the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area a/k/a The Triangle, there are a number of great colleges, UNC @ Chapel Hill and Duke in Durham.
I assume I'd have better luck finding a job in the Raleigh/Durham area than Charleston, correct? I would think so, yes but don't count Charleston out as a lot can/will change in the next year.
What about Cost of living, are they comparable? I would have to say that the cost of living is less down in Charleston. Is the humidity similar in both areas? The humidity isn't as bad as some make it out to be and the difference between Raleigh and Charleston is not enough to make it fell any worse in the summer heat.How about crowds? I'm coming from a 1 million plus metro area (and have lived in smaller too) - is either place more tolerable in terms of commute time(mine can be 45 - 1 hour to go 15 miles) You can live in the outskirts of the Triangle and still be less than a 45 minute commute...unless traffic gets heavy due to accidents. There is a lot of tourist traffic in Charleston that you don't see in The Triangle as most of the Triangle's traffic is due to the hordes of commuters.
Raleigh is a delightful place to live if you like small to medium cities and Charleston is sub tropical so you will get to see a lot of loss hanging from trees and a lot of the old southern charm.
Feel free to DM me if you have specifics that you don't want to post in open forum.
