I know that tornadoes are rare in Oregon, but has there ever been a tornado in the Rogue Valley? I can't seem to find anything online!

No, there is no record of any. Even if you could go back in history and find an incident of one, It would not be a "real" tornado. For example one capable of doing any damage. Oregon just doesn't have the type of extreme weather needed to produce tornados.

My wide and I were riding back from Baker City in July and south of Seneca we observed a funnel cloud, it never did form into a tornado but it was something to see.

There have been some destructive microbursts but nothing as organized as a tornado.

That is not far from my house and I remember hearing it - surprising because we don't get a lot of wind here.

I'm no geography major, but I believe that area is several hundred miles away from the Rogue Valley.

I think about four or five years ago, my wife and I were nosing around Grants Pass, around Gold Hill I think, when a HUGE windstorm blew threw knocking down several big trees and causing a lot of mayhem.

But I never heard of a tornado.

The only tornado I've heard about being in OR earlier this year was just south of Eugene.

A tornado/waterspout took out several buildings in Newport several years ago, and one did some damage in McMinnville a couple years ago, but mostly Oregon tornadoes are just enthusiastic whirlwinds. Farmers have seen their sheds and barns get tossed around or torn apart, but they don't amount to much. As for the Rogue Valley, there have probably been tornadoes there, but nobody really knows. There is no tornado watch here like there is in the Midwest.

However, the Portland/Vancouver area has had its share, including the 1972 F-3 event that killed 6 and injured over 300. It remains the worst tornado in PNW history.
