This is one of the situations where OP probably wishes he'd paid the premium for a licensed contractor.

I recommend Quality Fence, out of Medford and Roseburg. They may have an office in Grants Pass too, I don't know, but Medford is not that far away.

This was true where I lived in a small town in WA. I grew up with a cop in the SF Bay Area, and wasn't about to leave things unlocked and I got teased mercilessly. But, there were a ton of tourists that came through that area, let alone some bad seed locals. Plus, there are some crazy azz people who live in the national forests.

Anyway, I'm sorry this happened to you. But, really, you should have checked for the mug shot before you hired him.
Yeah, in the very small touristy city where I am, I got some questions as well as derogatory comments about locking garage doors, double-locking other doors, and undoubtedly behind my back some tsk-tsking when we had an alarm system installed, and a locking mailbox.

I don't care what they say. The police and sheriff's reports make it clear that there is a lot of property crime, and not all of it is just easy, opportunistic stuff like people leaving garages open or bikes unlocked. The methheads have changed things so that no matter whether in town or in the sticks, ya better lock up.

Then there are the nutcases. One neighbor here told me he found an unknown woman in his bathroom. She claimed to be looking for a friend who allegedly lived there. He didn't know if she was casing the place or merely batsht crazy, but she was not welcome. Very recently, someone reported to police that a drunk was on their couch.

When we wanted a fence, I asked around for names. The people who have done that stuff here are folks who repeatedly get hired by neighbors. In a couple of cases, they even check on peoples' places when they are away. Good, trustworthy folks.
