Favorite Place in Oregon
If anyone cares to share, what is your single favorite place in Oregon and why?
For me, it's the secret beach. Go to Lincoln City. Then to the parking area at Road's End. Walk north until you get to the end of the beach. At very negative tides one can scramble around the point on a rock fall that occurred in 1957 to a beach that is breathtaking. Spires crowned with birds. The ocean boils & churns. And usually one is all alone on the 50 yard long beach. No place like it in my Oregon.

Oregon has such diverse landscape ranging from stunning Pacific beaches, to majestic mountain scenerary, to the subtle tones of the High Desert. It's very hard to choose just one.
If limited to just one, I guess Spencer Creek in Klamath County would be at the top of the list:

Ever been to Ft. Klamath Park and see the headwaters of the Klamath River bubble up from the ground while standing on the wooden bridge? Another fav place.

Boy, its a hard choice for me....
I love the beach. Not so much the wider sandy areas, but the wild and rugged cliffs w/the crashing waves that send sprays so far up in the air....I love the solitary of it, when I can spend hours on end, mesmorized by this fury w/no company, save the seas creatures. The smells and sounds alone bring peace and joy to my soul....
Clear Lake just out of Sisters is another amazing place. We used to camp there when i was a kid, and i can recall many an endless summers day, floating in a raft, staring down at the petrified forest so far below me, eerily visible in the icy clear water....
I used to live alongside acres of pasture land, where the owners kept a herd of miniture horses.....Miles and miles away from anyone else, it was like looking over a frontier land and watching these little horses stampede across their fields....i loved to close my eyes and listen to their thundering hooves, the wild whinneys and just feel an ache in my soul soothed....
Theres so many places in Oregon that are a balm to the soul. My favorite depends on my mood.

Triangle Lake.
Halfway between Eugene and Florence on Highway 36. There are also some rock slides nearby which are great fun!

There are some many beautiful places, it's hard to choose just one.
For senitmental reasons (I caught my first and only fish there at age 8) I would have to say Lost Lake up by Mt. Hood.

I have lived in Oregon all my life, There are so many beautiful areas! My very favorite would have to be the Columbia River gorge. Bingen across from Hood River, on a sunny, July day, wind blowing! That is paradise!

I want to put in a mention of the high desert. Sure the mountains, coast and gorge get most of the attention but it's the stark desolate beauty one finds east of the Cascades that really puts the exclamation point on statements claiming Oregon has the most spectacular, diverse landscapes of the lower 48 states. The whole thing is so vast one could spend a lifetime exploring. So far I've only visited the Painted Hills. What a unique geological formation! When I first moved to Portland I saw a photograph of them in some gallery downtown and thought to myself "no way is that Oregon, that's gotta be the Southwest somewhere". Sure enough one day I drove over the Cascades and found the landscape reminiscent of an old western. While I'd never want to live in a desert (I need dense woodland for my day to day life) I still love the feeling I get exploring that kind of vast open topography and love how easily accessible it is for the occasional visit.

Wallowa Lake
Wallowa Lake is my favorite. The only reason I am mentioning it is because it is it has some protections from predatory Real Estate Speculators/Developers. Be careful who you tell about those "special places in Oregon"
