Hello readers,
Thanks in advance for reading this and providing ur feedbacks. I currently reside in San Fransisco-CA and might possibly move to Hillsboro, OR. There are few things I would like to know. - Natural Calamities Since CA is king of earth quakes, what would be the known natural calamities in OR? - Schooling & Housing Which are the top schools? Which areas are better for hosuing to get good into good elementary, middle & high schools? Is there something more that you think a person from CA should be notified about when moving to OR ? Once again, THANKS for your feedback!! ![]() - By Seriously considering to move guy with family. ![]() |

Disaters? Floods in the winters but its usually the same areas and not your average neighborhood. People that live near rivers are affected. There are lots of great neighborhoods in Hillsboro, which school level are you looking at? I am not too familiar with the schools but know that Glencoe HS seems very popular with my co-workers, this would put you in the NE/NW 97124. RMLS Regional Multiple Listing Service - Home There are many schools in the district, some in good parts of town and some in not-so-good parts of town. It will be easier for you to pick the school and then pick the neighborhood. There was a long Hillsboro thread not too far back you should look at.
Some people will tell you that the Portland area is depressing and gray. I dont mind it because you get the 4 seasons and hey, it has been very sunny the last week. Perfect winter weather actually. I dont think coming from SF will be a major adjustment. |

The weather here is not for everyone. You might seriously consider this before you move. The rainy season goes from October through April, sometimes into June. Some people really underestimate the effect of the weather on themselves when they come here. Some cannot tolerate it and end up leaving. I love the rain here in the Northwest, that's why I live here. Portland is not San Francisco. Portland is not a big city, so don't come here expecting big city cultural amenities and diversity.

Why specifically do you mention Hillsboro? I can think of alot better places around the greater Portland area if I was being choosy.
