Not even a surface street, it is really a dead-end Forest Service road. Unplowed. It doesn't go through to anything, despite what Apple Maps thinks.

It's surprising that, what, 5 years or so(?) after Apple released their mapping product to very unsatisfactory reviews, the app still sucks.

The rain is back to the coast today and all the snow is finally melted, here. Except for one small pile, the remnants of where some neighbor kid built a snowman.

I got it from a reliable source, that this was the most snow accumulation on this part of the coast in over 40 years.

Better to be traveling yesterday when it was very cold in the morning (the temps didn't get above freezing until we hit Sacramento) than today when it will be raining - hard in places - from Seattle to San Diego. besides, looking at the road cams on TripCheck, the roads were in MUCH better shape yesterday.
Hope the drive was okay.

What do you expect out of Chinese software?

Looking at various maps, it doesn't appear to be a dead end, but it is not paved. It runs from Mt Ashland Road about 10 miles south to Hilt Road in Hornbrook, California. With the right type of vehicle and in the right conditions it could be an excellent detour, if the Interstate is closed. But only with the right vehicle and in the right conditions.

Also just because something is a forest service road, doesn't mean it's not a viable travel alternative. A lot of forest service roads are good quality two lane paved roads. I love forest service roads. A few times when highway 101 was closed I avoided a 150 mile detour route with a five mile detour on forest service roads. Even though it wasn't the recommended route.

LOL, it's not Chinese software. The hardware yes, the software no. Apple software is 100% designed in Cupertino California, but in this case it still does suck.
