I don't spend that much at Freddie's, lol. I usually save 10-20 cents a gallon, and in a 25 gallon tank that adds up.

That's weird. I spend a lot at Freddies to get 10-20c off.

It is funny how much the price of gas effects us mentally more than many other things. Not sure why that is, but it does. I see gas go up two cents and I am sad. Other products go up much more and I often don't even notice. Maybe it's because we never really see the gas?
I see this kind of mentality ALL the time.

One gas station is five cents cheaper than the other.
The cheaper one has lines into the street, while the more expensive one is deserted.

I need to fill up my tank with about 15 gallons of gas.
I don't care if I spend 75 cents more at the more expensive station with no waiting.

It's worth the price of a 1/4 of a gallon of gas to watch the antics and anger going on across the street.

We shop at Safeway occasionally and I usually forget about the gas discount.
Plus, I got all my kids brainwashed to use my phone number at Safeway.

It is nice when I remember and fuel up my diesel pickup at a Safeway or other station that has the program and get that buck off per gallon.

Especially when I am filling up both reserve tanks! It adds up!

Yeah, you have to spend $100 for each 10 cent discount, so if you want to get 30 cents off you have to spend $300. Sucker bait.

Did they eliminate the $75 limit per fill?

I quit shopping at Freddies, Safeway, Albertsons, etc. because their prices are so high and their selection sucks. Quality is low too. I always buy 7% fat hamburger, and if I buy at Freddies I boil 1/4 away in water. If I buy at Sherms the price is lower and they don't water the meat.

I use Safeway and Albertsons like convenience stores. It's a quick in and out to pick up milk or something from the deli, but I usually don't buy enough to get the fuel discount, which expires pretty fast. I certainly would never shop at a grocery store just to get the fuel discount.

I will be trying an experiment in Oregon to see how long I can stay out of the grocery stores. Amazon Prime for non perishables, greenhouse, garden, and farm stands for fresh produce, Alaska seafood. Plan on buying gas at places with the shortest lines.

If you don't like it, contact your representatives - note that there has already been a bill changing how very rural stations work and they are thinking about expanding the definition of "rural". Here is the chance to do something instead of just complain.

If you are coming in from another state - note that the ONLY taxes you pay in Oregon are gasoline, liquor, pot and hotel taxes (there are also a tiny number of cities - Ashland and maybe 2 others - that impose a restaurant tax) . The residents of this state pay higher income and property taxes to subsidize you, so stop complaining unless everything is 100% perfect in your state. (Californians, I am particularly looking at you.)

Until something changes, this is how it is, for residents and non-residents.
Okay, this is annoying. Why are you particularly looking at Californians?

I''m a Californian, and have also lived in WA, and taken advantage of lower gas prices in OR, and have never complained.

The funny thing about this OR vs CA feud -

I recently signed up for a club card at a local casino, so that I could get their cheap senior lunch special once per week. This is a casino on a reservation in CA.

The woman who signed me up recently moved to CA from OR, and while signing me up, she complained how the real estate prices in CA in our area have gone up because of Californians moving farther north, within their own state, which had priced her out of real estate in the area.

So, she was hating on Californians moving within their own state - who were pricing her out of the area, and she was from OR.

So, she moves to CA with the OR attitude of Californians cause all of her problems - and takes a job from another Californian, and then complains that she can't afford the real estate - in CA - because Californians are moving to cheaper areas within their own state.

Right. Work that one out.

Oregonians simply like to blame all of their problems and frustrations and annoyances and anything else they can think of - on Californians.

If that works for you psychologically, well, good for you, I guess.

Good response....I think lots of us found that post annoying.

It works fine if you are a person who does all of their shopping at Freddie's anyway. The discount on gas is a nice perk. I surmise that lots of people do a lot of shopping at Freddie's simply because their parking lot is always slammed.

For someone who does their shopping elsewhere, it would make no sense to shop at Freddies just to get a small discount on the gasoline.

The gas station at Fred Meyer has some of the lowest prices, then you get a discount just by having one of their customer cards, and you get more discount earned by shopping. Low gas prices are popular. I see long lines at their gas stations.

I rarely shop at Fred Meyers and I don't buy gas there, but the crowds are obvious, seen when just driving by.

However (shopping hint), I do watch their ads because at holidays they usually offer a fabulous deal on Tillamook ice cream. They also sell the upper end of grocery-store-grade of produce and sell the cheapest pumpkins at Halloween, when I am in the market for 80-100 pounds of pumpkin.

Us(A) Diesel drivers know all about this !!!

More voters drive SUV's, so our previously CHEAP fuel (1/2 to 1/3rd gasoline price previous to 1980) (with 30% more energy and far less expense to refine) now costs MORE than gas. Politicians love votes, and soccer moms in SUV's like CHEAP gas! (only in USA..., disney / movie star politics)

It was nice to drive a diesel in NZ!, and about everywhere ELSE in the world. 1/2 price
