It doesn't matter to me whether the OP is a "troll." Legit people search for this kind of information all the time; it'll come up on a Google search for anyone seriously wondering about racism in Sweet Home.

Silverfall is right.

Listening to an OPB broadcast right now, an oral narrative of the Wax museum of black history in Texas-

it should be required for everyone-
the things that were done, unspeakable (think 8 month pregnant lady, unborn child, cats sewn into areas, while well dressed white crowds looked on)-
all factual and depicted in wax.

so , just saying the OP's query is no joke, and should be taken seriously, the stakes are just too high, even today.

walter james, there aren't very many racists in that area, same as the rest of the Willamette Valley, or pretty much all of Western Oregon. Even Eastern Oregon isn't as bad as some southern states, mostly. Just be prepared for people to seem reserved because West Coasters seem to come across as reserved from people moving from the Eastern and Southern US, so don't take it personally. Most people are friendly, but maybe they aren't the best at starting a conversation or maybe they have their minds on other things. Anybody that's rude just walk the other way, but I doubt you'll run into that much, if at all (Yeah, I have no idea what part of the U.S. you are from, or even if you are from here. I just assumed you're from somewhere east of the Rockies, but my apologies if I'm wrong.)

Sweet Home is a bit off the beaten path, so maybe a little more red than the surrounding area, but of all the people I've known from around that area, none has ever said anything racist or done anything to give me the impression that they think like that.
