best place for family
we want to move from the midwest and oregon is an option. where is a safe, friendly place with good schools and plenty of activities in the town and for kids to do. we like small towns close to big city. good health care. not to expencive, we pay 1000.00 for rent now. my husband does construction. My kids play every sport or are into gymnastics and stuff. we like the four seasons and snow in the winter. my husband would love to see and hike in the mountains. we also like nice clean lakes and rivers to swim in and jet ski in the summer. what natural disasters happen there and how often? we want sunshine and not a place where it rains alot. i wouldnt want to live in a place like seattle, i know thats washington but i mean the rain. i would like a town where there is lots of community involvement with town and school. teachers that really help the kids not matter what and not a real clicky town.
thanks for reading. oh ya and at least one christian church.

My best recommendation is the Bend/Redmond area. Sunny, unbelievable outdoor life year round... The only hitch may be the rent.

Southern Oregon has the best of the 4 seasons, good gymnastics coaches, rivers, lakes. Great for boating and fishing. Hundreds of churches. It's worth a look.

my kids are still young so they are not real serios yet about one sport, they just like to do everything. they are very active, when they arent playing a sport they want to ride their bike or scooter. they love to go to the pool in the summer, and the ymca in the winter. we like towns that have carnivals and stuff like that going on alot. here we have waterloo days where the whole towns comes and there is a steet dance. they want to water and snow ski often. it is just kinda boring here sometimes and we want a fresh start. we want a nice scenary

Southern Oregon has all of that, and the best weather. Mt. Ashland for skiing local, Bend for weekends trips, Mt. Shasta for day trips (2hrs.)
There are at least 5 lakes you can wakeboard, water ski, and jet ski on. Shasta is great in the summer for houseboating.
Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland all have local fairs, parades and event days. Checkout Grants Pass's boatnik event, in fact all through May there are activities. Grants Pass has a public pool and a Y.
best wishes,

You also might like Silverton Oregon. We don't get a lot of snow that sticks in the valley, but Hoodoo and Mt. Bachelor aren't too far away. We do sledding trips to Hoodoo every winter to get our snow fix in. They have some excellent tubing runs there (they are called the Autobahn, and yes they are fast...)
Monmouth and Independence in Polk county may also be good choices.
Please be aware that our home construction is down 27%, so if he is in home construction, he will have a hard time finding work. I think commerical construction and other areas (like roads) are still doing fine.
In the Salem area we have Detroit and Foster Lakes, Santiam River (stunning river) for rafting, fishing, kayaking, etc.
As for Salem weather we get a lot of rain and gray days from mid-Oct to end of January. We usually get some nice sunny breaks in February and March with on and off rain. Then starting in April we get more sun with less rain.
If you kids are active, mine just have really good rain gear and have a great time stomping in the puddles. I have hot cocoa ready with a towel from the dryer when they are ready to come in.
We have plenty of churches to choose from in the area. Here is a link to Silverton's web site.

thank you. i got the most info from this post out of all my options. one question, how are the schools in these areas? we do have great teachers where we live now. our school isnt too clicky, but i know there is a little of that stuff everywhere. people get along here no matter what part of town there from. we are in a town now of 600-700 people and the school is merged with the next town over so the classes are about 60 kids per grade, so they try to keep 20 or so to a class. they know everyone at the school. we are 10-20 miles away from omaha so we have everything we need there if its not here. but still boring.
