Costco has well priced gas- 40- 50 cents cheaper a gallon- and its still pumped by an attendant. That works for me.

The mistake cost the gas station quite a bit of money and my buddy a lot of lost time. No word on if the guy got fired.
I don't understand why in the world he was not pumping his own diesel.

You don't have to let an attendant fill your diesel rig, ever. Diesel is not explosive.

You don't have to let an attendant fill your motorcycle, because auto-shutoff does not work in motorcycle gas tanks.

I think you may be exaggerating just a bit. Costco is .04 cheaper than ARCO and .05 cheaper than Space Age. According to GB the biggest price difference is .36 from a station downtown.

It's just a recent anecdotal story. I guess he could have but he wasn't. Still a stupid law.

no not at all, it depends on the gas station (usually at the bigger intersections, like the one on McLoughlin and Holgate, etc...

my friend used to fill up at the shell next to their house (SE neighborhood nothing fancy) and it was easily 50cents a gallon more expensive) but partially that was for pure convenience....

I paid $2.44 a gallon at Costco last week and driving around you could see $2.89/ gallon
easy- small economy car, so just regular gas nothing premium...

Have to gas up another car in a couple days - will update....

(we also will fill up at Fred Meyers, as we often get the discount thru shopping, still beats Arco, which SO won't use, he says they put water in their gas -?-)

But yeah, all with helpful gas attendants who pump for you

Yes, ARCO is bad gas. They don't put in beneficial additives.
When I go to the valley, Costco is about 10 cents cheaper. Difference is more around Portland.

Don't forget about state and regional gas taxes when comparing the cost of gas around oregon.

That's why I buy my gas (and a lot of other things, like things in plastic bags) in a county other than Multnomah.

I got a Fred Meyer card years ago. They are one of the least expensive for gasoline/diesel.

ARCO is not my top choice, but their gas is fine. Stay away from Safeway and Fred Meyer, unless you want a clogged up fuel system.

Old wives tale.
A quick Google search will tell you so.

If you are having these problems, they are either VERY station specific, or your car already has these issues from poor maintenance.

Most of our gas comes from Washington from Alaskan crude, from Tesoro.
