Illinoisboy, I tired your earlier posting, and got a 'notify the administrator, invalid post' box when I tried to open them. I've lived here many years, and never tire of seeing beautfiul pictures of the area. Good job!

btw, my screensaver on my phone is a shot of some wild waves up on the cliffs about 15min. from my house. Very very cool.
Now my contabution on here is actually a live camera over part of the bay here. I know ive posted it before.....might try a search on it. If you cant find it, i can pm you the link....its pretty neat to watch..especially on a nice day, or watching storms roll in.

Sorry, Illinoisboy, I don't! I'm strictly a 35mm person, and the pics on my computer are those which have been emailed to me. I did get a digital camera a few wks ago, and when I get it figured out, I'll be happy to post some pics. Instructions on uploading pics would be welcome!

Well, for any of you that may have some pics, I think it would be cool to see anything east of the Cascades, like the Bend area, because thats suppose to be really beautiful.
Speaking of Bend, I have been reading alot of negative things a bout it recently, so I just thought I'd throw this in. I know a guy who had moved out to Bend 5 years or so ago. He just moved back to Illinois. Howver it was not b/c of the overcrowding, or any of those other reasons. He moved back because of family. He said he found people in Oregon to be much warmer than they are here. He had a pretty good expirience, from what I heard.
Also, SeeBee I'd be happy to help you if you want.

I may take you up on that soon...
to bad i dont have a scanner!!! my folks live in Bend and they keep sending up pictures. lol
it is very very pretty there IMO, google Clear Lake Resort...its a beautiful lake resort up kinda near Bend....we used to camp there a lot when i was a kid, they dont allow motor boats up there, and the water is incredible!!! Over one end, you can look down through the water at an ancient petrified forest! anyhow, theres some very nice pics up on the website.
btw, i thought about you guys and this thread yesterday...the kids and i spent a good part of the day playing down on the beach and it was such a glorious day! The sky was so blue it hurt my eyes, waves were huge and crashing, sand was warm, i just sat there for hours soaking up the sun, watching the kids build sand castles, wade in the waves......nothing but blue skies all the way to the horizan...we could even see the coast guard helecopters WAAAAAYYY out there, and some fishing boats that you could just barely see...sadly,we didnt see any whales, its whale watching week here...perfect day for it, darn creatures didnt cooperate...
anyhow, i was sure wishing i had brought a camera so i could take some pics for ya'll.....sorry!! but hey, at least i thought of you! lol

There are a ton of different towns and cities that make that claim.
Sante Fe, NM is the oldest city west of the Mississippi, though, being founded in 1609. That's if you are only counting European settlements. If you really want to get crazy there was also apparently some village there founded around 1050 AD.
Astoria wasn't founded until the 1790's, if not the early 1800's. There are a ton of cities west of the Mississippi that are older than that. I don't know how they can make that claim. Oregon City, OR makes the claim, also. It wasn't even foudned until 1829.
St. Charles, MO is the second oldest.
