Hello all!!!!!!!!!!! Well i lived in Mid Oregon for a couple years and i moved back to Florida due to a family illness. My mother has always wanted to move to Coos Bay Oregon since she lived there for awhile after having me ![]() So i have decided to go ahead and make the big move back over there....i work for a pretty good company that doesnt have a problem transfering me so the work information isnt really much of an issue. Ive read some other things that Coos Bay really isnt a party town which is fine with me because i dont like to always be where its BUSY all the time...living in the Salem/Portland area was enough. Can anyone just provide me with some good information on interesting things in the area, things to do,unique places, schooling information, any information on horse riding activities and good horse teachers in the area....just stuff me with all the information you can....i WELCOME it all....good and bad!!!!!!! I cant wait to hear from you guys!!!!!!!!! |

well, theres the local Boys and Girls club here, and they have some really great activites for the kids. Theres an onsite gymnastics club too that has classes from begainners up through highest level of competitive gymnastics...theres also a highly acclaimed tennis center there, theyve sent kids on to national level from what ive heard..and they are breaking in a new soccer field...the club offers all the typical sports too, baseball, basketball, etc.
they also have a great art program..some little girl there just had one of her paintings go on to a national competition... I like my kids schools. The classes are pretty small, well, my youngests is anyhow..shes got 12 kids in her Kg. class....and thats with one teacher, and two full time aids...my son has more, i think theres 22 in his 3rd grade class....varies for my 13yr old, shes in the Jr high, but shes been on honor roll the whole time, so they must be doing something right. lol We've had one teacher we werent thrilled with, but after a meeting, and things still didint click, we were able to move my child w/o any probs adn he thrived in the other classroom. We just spent the day playingon the beach today. It was wonderful!!! We walked, made sandcastles, the kids dug and waded in the water (no way for me! Unless its about 80degrees, you wont catch my feet in the water! lol) climbed up teh sand hills and had all sorts of fun. theres several parks around here, many quite lovely and the kids could happily spend hours on end at them. For the lazy hiker like me, theres the walk around Empire lakes where its paved and gentle slopes. If youre game for more, theres plenty for any level! Shore Acres is incredible....the gardens are a joy and the beach cove is amazing....wait til you see the holiday lights! all my kids love to go to the pottery place...they have a huge selection of pottery you can chose from to paint and all for yourself. teach your child how to crab and clam. mine all do and they love it! There theater you and/or your child can get involved with....several playhouses offer open auditions for various plays/musicals/dances... theres the local pools w/swimming lessons most of the kids do. we have the girls scouts here, maybe that would be up her alley? I'll ask around this week and see if anyone i know is taking horse riding lessons or knows of any around.... anyhow, lemme know if i can be of any help. Tiffany |

House prices there are not that bad .IMO. The sands dunes there are awesome. I rode a atv and a dirtbike and it was totally awesome. I think some people ride horses in the dunes or near the dunes on sandy trails and horses generally get to go places that atv's and dune buggies are not alowed.
