Horseback Riding on the BEACH
Has anyone tried those guided horseback riding sessions on the Oregon Coast? I'd like to try that when family comes to visit and would appreciate any recommendations. Does anyone know of any hotel/motel/ranch that includes the rides on the grounds? Thanks for any tips.

Northwest Equine Outfitters operates out of Nehalem Bay State Park. Lots of options from 1 hour ride to full day rides with meals included. I haven't used them myself but they have a good local reputation and their customers always seem to be having a good time.
BTW, Nehalem Bay is also where they are restoring the ancient cannons uncovered on the beach at Arch Cape this year. There is a public viewing while they change the water on April 29th.
Have Fun!

It sounds like fun!! Sometimes I see horseback riders on the beach and I want to do it too. It sure freaks out my dogs though. They think only "they" should be allowed, I guess.

Nell, of course I do (they are leashed). My dogs just get "very vocal" when they see the horses on "their beach"

My family and I went to the stables just north of Florence and had a wonderful experience. The guide was amazing. We took pictures and it was one of my favorite memories from the beach. I highly advise the stables north of Florence. My family and I will be going back to it again.

Im with LostInOregon!!!! We just went there today. It was a surprise trip for my daughters birthday, just she and I went, on the 2hr beach ride. It was awesome! The first part, we wound around in the forest area, then thru the dunes w/glimpses of the ocean. We lucked out and it was absolutly beautiful weather. In jeans and a tshirt, i was toasting hot! Was so thankful to feel that ocean breeze coming up! Then, within about 20min. we hit the beach. And i was glad to have a sweatshirt with me! lol It was pretty breezy. There were 6 in our group and we were pretty evenly split on who needed a sweatshirt against who just stuck w/tshirts. Anyhow, once youre at the beach, you get to walk/trot at will, no having to stay in a line or anything. Just "head south and stay on the wet sand" You could let your horses go in the water, most of them did, but mine was all 'HEJJ NO!!" lol After an hour plus on the beach, you head back, for about another 20min. loop back along a different trail. It actually took us about 2 1/2 hrs even though it was listed as a 2hr ride. And let me say, worth every single penny. My teen daughter smiled and laughed more in that time than she usually does around us in an entire weekend.Every employee there was super friendly and helpful. The horses were well treated and healthy. Everything was clean and reasonably priced. Honestly, I dont have a single negative about our entire experience. It was a bit spendy (55.00each for the 2hr ride) but again, so totally worth it, were it was a bit of a crunch for us to be able to afford it, I think it was priced very well for what we got.
I Recommend!!
