You might consider near Chiloquin, you have the Williamson and the Sprague rivers. I have a friend who
fishes out his back door, fly only area where he lives. But, I agree with Larry, the North Umpqua is one of the best in the state.

I don't know anything about fishing, but if you're planning to retire in Oregon,
first check what your state income taxes will be (download the forms and fill them out,
as if you were a resident). They're high -- much higher than California's (at least for me).
I plan to move to Oregon anyway, but now I know what to expect; the taxes won't be a surprise.
Meanwhile, Washington state has no personal income tax.

Good point about taxes. And Oregon has a much lower threshold for estate taxes too.

I agree with Larry on the North Umpqua River, it is an awesome place to fly fish and miles of the river are fly fish only. You might want to check out the housing in the Glide, Oregon area. Glide along the North Umpqua River.

HiYa!

All of your posts are very helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

I did not think about State income tax and will do so. My retirement portfolio is invested well. But I need to find information regarding retirement income. I no longer go to sea...(Thank God) and I do not need the work.

We planned to visit the area outside Central Point this weekend but decided against it due to the road condition over the Suskiyous above 4000 ft. I have spend a lot of time in the snow, but now I can pick and choose when I want to deal with it...HA!
