jbwbhs is on a distinguished road
Default Looking for isolation, central, eastern Or.

I live on the outer Banks of NC and travel annually to the N.West by M/C and would like to explore remote(inexpensive) areas to establish a base that will allow me to further explore the hiking, camping, riding in the Northwest. I think of small acreage within 20 miles or so of a small town, with trees, need water, need help to plan what else. Thanks, J.

Jb, if it isolation your looking for there are parts of central Oregon that can fit your needs. If you get a maps of Oregon and look at hwy 26 east out of Prineville, there are many small towns. Northeast Oregon is another area you might want to check out.
Just a couple of town that come to mind are, John Day, Prairie City and Sumpter.
Good luck on your quest

Southeastern Oregon is even more remote. You could look at areas outside of Lakeview, Burns or Paisley.

Trees and water will be the things that limit your search. Try Hwy 97 south of Bend, all the way down to Klamath Falls. You don't have to go east or west off the highway very far to be remote and quiet.

I'm in the Fort Klamath/Chiloquin/Agency Lake area (about 20 miles south of Crater Lake), but you might try just east of Chiloquin, up in Sprague River/Bonanza/Beatty.
