Usually, in small towns, a neighbor will step in. Anyone who lives alone with animals should have an animal care notebook with instructions. Actually, that is a good idea for couples because if one gets sick the other will want to accompany them to the hospital or medical clinic.

An instruction notebook is a very good idea. Sometimes when we are new to an area we haven't been able to set up a help network yet. But small town people can be very helpful when we need it.
