Default University Of Central Oregon

Hi,
Any truth to the rumor that the state's newest 4 year school will be built in Bend sometime in the next 5 years? What have you guys heard? Thanks
UCO- has a nice ring to it.

There hasn't been much news recently. The City owns a 1500 acre parcel of land in northeast Bend that they call Juniper Ridge. They've been in a dispute with the developer for months and that finally got settled in February. The original intent was to have a university located at Juniper Ridge, but there are traffic and other issues that have to be resolved before much else can be done. Les Schwab is building its headquarters there and that is the only activity at present. OSU had been talking about an expansion, but I haven't seen anything on that for quite a while - the last I heard was that it wouldn't get into the state budget until after 2009 (if then). With money getting tighter, city planners getting laid off - I can't see anything happening for a while.
